the clothes the people wear, seems to indicate a hot climate, the pith helmets and GR Royal Mail indicate the British, so my guess is South Africa

Marc commented An Imperial Airways Handley Page H.P.42E based out of Cairo for Africa and India routes. They went into commercial service in 1931, all were transferred to RAF service at the start of the war. Carried up to 18 passengers in two (luxurious) compartments over 500 miles at a rather stately cruise speed of 100 MPH. The fezzes scream Morroco or elsewhere in northern Africa

the balloon tires indicate early 1910's? The wire wheels were very rare before the 1930s though. Pretty strange all the way around.

The Maxwell-Briscoe Company from New York decided to enter the 1906 Vanderbilt Cup by building two cars, one with eight cylinders and the other with twelve. The latter employed and engine of boxer layout with radiators attatched to the cylinder head and extending upwards.

not sure what to make of the rims... except they look like strong rims meant for racing with corners or circles... but the intake tubes make me think drag racing- and the oversize tire cutouts? huh.. lots of tire travel expected

I grew up around dirt track stock car racing.....and (except for the exposed injector stacks) this looks just like what I watched race in the mid-late 70's. Fiberglass bodies began showing up in the Late 70's and were on all competitive cars by 1980.
So, my guess would be either asphalt stock car racing or Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Shelby GT350 Mustang, with a couple strange things about it

What is this 4 knob device? Speaker controls? Power amp for the stereo?

 and when the sign on the dash said the car was still owned by the original owner, but I saw this temp registration in the back window, I wondered what was going on...

I still can't figure out why it's an 1988 Nissan listed on the temp.

Does anyone know what is the story about this backward truck?

notice that this is the right / slow lane, the one trucking is supposed to stay in.

I ask, and please verify or explain otherwise if you know, because while driving 26 ton cargo vans, I found that certain parts of I-15 and I-163 here in San Diego have a wave pattern that only starts to make your truck "buck" like it's a a very fast teeter totter if you get over 55 or 65 miles an hour

Why do car companies go through any trouble to attempt to disguise a car, and then drive it on the 405, at 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday?

I think a couple minutes with searching through the 2013 models would reveal what car company made this, just with a couple little things that they aren't disguising. The door handle design, the truck lid to bumper profile, the gas filler door location, the rim design, etc etc. So why drive it in public in LA, with Michigan plates if it isn't trying to stand out like a ugly goosling among ducks?

It's got wood rims, so it's earlier than the 1930's,
 it's got a radiator, but not a hood ornament,
 looks like a tool box for the hand crank,
 has a steering wheel on the right hand side...

Mark got it as an MGB

It it is a MGB. I got the TV show right away, but because it started in 1978 I guessed cars from that era and my first (very uncertain) guess was a Fiat Spyder. Then, after exchanging e-mails with Jesse, I started thinking that maybe the car was a lot older than the series. I went straight to British Leyland and thought any Triumph (including the Spitfire) from the TR4 to the TR6 because I knew that they came with a wooden dash. I even suggested a Midget or Sprite, but frankly I have never seen an MGB with a wooden dash so I discounted it. I was wrong. There are plenty of MGBs with such dashes on the net. Jesse was, I think jokingly, peeved when I got the show. He said he made the clue too easy, but I don’t know how many others came up with the answer. MWindham

Nancy and Dennis were first to respond with "The first one is a home built body, not sure of the make. Second, both are post war GM, one in back is '47 Chevy. Third and fourth, '47 Chevrolet Fleetmaster and it was Easter. Fifth, definitely not a Ford! Might be a Plymouth. Last is a '41 Ford Super Deluxe with a lot of aftermarket accessories. Fog lights, bumper ends, headlight visors, spotlight, radio antenna on fender (stock is above windshield)."

 I think the car on the right is the same as the car below in the front, and rear view photos. Tom says the car on the left looks like a 41 Chev

 Just a guess that the above and below are the same car

 above is likely older than 1937, that is the year Fords started putting the headlights half into the fenders
