Gasoline Girls and the Grease Girl

http://gasolinegirls.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/what-being-a-g-girl-is-all-about/#more-2710 for a great story about car club teamwork

and Grease Girl has brought a Stude Champion and this Falcon back to life, and blogged about it on http://greasegirl.wordpress.com/ as well as participating in the Ford Mustang SEMA Business Women's Network that was designed and built to auction for the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund http://greasegirl.wordpress.com/2012/10/29/update-powered-by-women-build/

Hot Rod magazine and Mackeys Hot Rod Shop in Huntington Beach Ca are trying to win a contest and raise cash for the Semper Fi Fund

So.. why am I telling you about it? You can use this link :  http://www.builtfromebay.com/?utm_campaign=si_social&utm_medium=fb_post_hr&utm_source=facebook&utm_content=episode_01#episode1    and vote for the van, and when it wins the contest, and gets sold on Ebay, the money goes to the Semper Fi Fund http://www.semperfifund.org/ that assists recovering US Marines and their families while recovering from, or getting therapy for, debilitating loss of limbs, mobility, or other severe complications from roadside bombs, Al Queda bullets, rocket propelled grenades, etc etc and other rotten stuff that war inflicts on soldiers

http://blogs.hotrod.com/help-hot-rod-help-injured-marines-30639.html for the full story about the contest between magazines (you don't want a Porsche, El Camino, or Jeep winning, do you?) and http://mackeyshotrods.com/ for the shop that is doing the work, in case you like to help a little too (I bet pizza and beer are a great "Thank You" )
http://www.builtfromebay.com/?utm_campaign=si_social&utm_medium=fb_post_hr&utm_source=facebook&utm_content=episode_01#episode1 to vote for the van

That leaves Hot Rod. Our esteemed Publisher Jerry Pitt bought a 1968 Chevy van residing in Ohio from ebay, had it shipped to Mackey’s, and now you’re going to vote for it to win the competition. Build-up videos of the chaos, voting and more can be had at ebay, you know, that web site where great cars and parts are found that you never dreamed you wanted until you clicked onto them.

The van is only half-a-heap; anMackey’s has a concept, a plan, the expertise, a wad of money, and six weeks build time to make our readers proud and our competition wish they were working for the winning team.

The winning Hot Rod van and three losing projects will be on display in all their glory at the 2012 SEMA Show in November. And the best part comes after the hoopla when the proceeds from the sale of the van will be donated to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund so go to http://www.builtfromebay.com/?utm_campaign=si_social&utm_medium=fb_post_hr&utm_source=facebook&utm_content=episode_01#episode1 to vote for the van, and the Semper Fi Fund!

The van is currently in 3rd, and needs a lot of votes to beat the others
Once you vote the bar turns gray... so I guess to vote more than once I have to do more than hit refresh (of course I'm trying to cheat... aren't you? For the Marines? Hell yes and hoo rah!)

KISS autographed a signature line of MINI Clubman cars, and they were auctioned off to raise funds for a childrens charity.. very damn cool. One was just stolen from it's new owner, very damn uncool. Be on the look out for this one

HARRISON NY — A $5,000 reward is being offered after a one-of-a-kind KISS car was stolen from a driveway in Harrison.

The Mini-Cooper hatchback, autographed by the 1970s shock rockers and designed with the band's logo and other blue/teal Kiss artwork, was originally purchased at an auction benefiting the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (or Unicef) . It was stolen Friday between midnight and 6 a.m.

The reward is for information leading to an arrest and conviction and/or recovery of the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call Harrison police at 914-967-5110 . All calls will remain confidential.

Metal Of Honor... duece made of donated new parts to assemble an homage to the US military that have been awarded the Congressional Medal Of Honor, and signed by 46 living recipients

If you look under the duece, you'll see that it's parked on grass. Indoors. I've never heard of any booth having turf brought in... it's awesome. Great idea, terrific execution, and appreciated by the people stopping by to admire the car. No dirt was getting carried onto the surrounding carpet either.

the military footlockers and field desk were very cool too

great display

Awesome military interior pieces, the ammo can for an armrest, the canvas courier bags for door pockets, duffel bag in the passenger footwell, and the gauges are superior to any I've seen that try for the military look, but go too far and use aircraft gauges. These are perfect... they have the look, and function, that people have tried for, but failed to achieve

Above, I was photographing the steering gear. I haven't seen an adapter like this before

if this car sounds familiar, it's because I posted a bit about this last year http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/12/best-cause-for-donating-parts-and-time.html

Thanks to Chuck Caswell, Emperor until he retires... he says after retirement he'll be a sultan (I could be mistaken, he may have said maharajah)
