compliment of the day

from Vector:

I have always had an interest in cars/trucks/motorcycles/machines and the wealth of information/connections on the internet can make for spending way too much time exploring that passion. One site's posting can lead to a wide array of sources of material.

Case in point... Jesse, in San Diego, maintains several blogs including justacarguy.blogspot.com/. I go to that blog several times a day in an effort to keep up with his prolific posting efforts. Seldom am I disappointed by the his offerings. I have been guilty of grabbing something there and reposting it here without giving him credit or providing the link back to his blog.

Jesse on the other hand is very good about providing the link to the source of his posts. Last week he reblogged the image of the Schmidt motorcycle I posted on December 27th and included the link to my original posting. It was a nice gesture to include the link and as a result visits to Vectorville increased dramatically. They were most likely looking for additional information or images of the Schmidt (which I was unable to provide). However, it is possible that some of those people set a bookmark and will come back occasionally to check out my offerings.

So thank you , Jesse, and I will make more of an effort to give credit where credit is due. As in the following image from Just a Car Guy today - which is a good example of him not being just a car guy after all.

best compliment of the month!

G'day Jesse ,

At this time of year, I like to thank all those people who help me get through this tough life we have.
And you , my friend are near the top of that list .

Never a day goes by that I don't sit down and look at " Just a Car Guy " . It really is the best remedy to unwind at the end of a day , and relax .

Not unlike the old man who would sit down in his favourite chair with the daily paper ....

Your content is 100% perfect ... don't change a thing . And most of all , keep at it !

So many people stop doing things , as they never hear from anyone whether it's all worth it . Sadly it's only after the site closes down that they hear from all the people who enjoy it .

Just two days ago , I recommended your site to a friend I hadn't seen for a while and he has since told me he has spent so many hours looking through all your archives , and he's now hooked . Yours is simply the Best !

So I hope you have a great Christmas , and be proud in that you sincerely make alot of people's lives more enjoyable .

 All the best ,
 Darryl .
 Brisbane .
 Australia .

Compliment of the day

Excellent blog. However, I am also crazy about the cars especially American muscles. The cars that are provided in this blog are simply amazing. This would be a starred one for the car lovers. Thank you for providing this amazing blog to us.

Compliment of the day

I have always loved cars. This is the best car site I have ever seen. Thank you. I have a 1919 Model T Ford that I drive every day. I take anyone and everyone for rides. I consider myself a living driving museum.

I'm blushing, and thrilled to get the compliment of the month from Dino Martin Peters, one hell of a swell guy, and Dean Martin fan

A Dino-ride From Pallie Jesse Hey pallies, likes our Dino knew it better then any other dude....the immense and immeasurable swankness of bein' able to tag 'nother man as "pallie." While all us Dino-philes know that our great man never ever needed anyone or anythin' besides himself in his life, our most beloved Dino enjoyed the pure pleasure of havin' fun times with his best pallies like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. And mere mortals likes ourselves are the same.

Today, I want to salute a great pallie o'mine that I have met through his Dino-devotion here on the ol' web. His tag is Jesse, and he is a dude who primarily hangs his hat at his all-thin's-car pad, "Just A Car Guy." Likes if you clicks on the link to this Dino-gram you will be welcomed into Jesse's world. Jesse is located in San Diego, California and lists as his occupation: full time jobs, full time hobby, part time blogging.

In addition to his huge huge passion for cars, Jesse is a great devotee of our man Dino and he graciously and generously often sends me fabulous Dino-treasure just to make sure that I have seen it before. And, sometimes Jesse shares Dino-related car posts at his amazin' blog...and, of course, in turn I share 'em with all your Dino-holicsas well.

When I opened my email today, there was some Dino-patter from my pallie Jesse includin' an amazin' pix of our Dino on a ride that I have never ever seen before. And, Jesse shared these most kind and gracious words of Dino-appreciato....."keep doing what you do, cause you do it so well!" ilovedinomatin expresses our deepest of deepest thanks to pallie Jesse for showin' such constant devotion to our Dino and the ilovedinomatin cause of spreadin' the Dino-word."

So dudes, enjoy the fabulous Dino-pose below courtesy of the best sort of pallie any Dino-devotee coulda have....Jesse! Dino-delightedly, DMP

http://ilovedinomartin.blogspot.com/2013/05/a-dino-ride-from-pallie-jesse.html for the post, and http://ilovedinomartin.blogspot.com/ for all things that Dean Martin has done, been photographed at, or has been known for.
Some people have things to do, some have things to say, some have things to share... Dean Martin Peters has Dino-appreciato for all things Dean Martin. Cool guy!

As Dean Martin said at the end of this clip, "Thanks to you for looking in, so until next week, you be careful drvin' ... 'cause there's a shortage of nice people in the world."

Thanks Ashley and Pat! I'd have remarked on your site, but that requires a $35 membership and registering. Not my style or financial ability.

nicest compliment of the week

As always, love your site. My first port of call  with the morning coffee every day. Your photos are always professional magazine quality, and show an understanding and appreciation of what you have in front of you, . Your writing is engaging, and enthusiastic. In fact you just come across as a nice guy doing something he loves. Thanks for taking the time to share it all.
Cheers,
Iain Campbell

The other compliment I got this week? that my blog is old and respected... now that is nice too, but it also sounds like a reference to a 100 year old art deco building

Compliment of the week, and amazing coincidence

Hi Jesse ,

I love your Blog even down here in Australia. It's a big part of my daily routine , I love everything that you cover.

I'm surprised to see a photo of the old petrol station from here in my home town. It's the one with the big pillars. Did you notice what side of the road the cars are parked on ?? It's not a branded station but our state Auto Club centre.

Keep up the great work ... Love it ! Darryl

Best compliment of the month, and honorable mention from Thom Taylor in Hot Rod Magazine

OK, he did mistake this blogspot.com for a .com but that can be taken as a compliment too... I mean, anyone thinking that my content quality and quantity are easily mistaken for a website (.com) and overlook that this is a "made in the garage" blog, in my spare time, are welcome to just enjoy it and possibly think it's a professionally made, full time, team effort.

That would be fine. It's just me after work, and on weekends.

I'm so stoked!

It's far out that such a recognized Hot Rod authority (Hot Rod and Grand National Roadster Show Halls of Fame) and person of impeccable taste likes my site enough to give it an honorable mention in the icon of hot rodding publications. And if anyone looks up Justacarguy.com on Google they'll find this blogspot.com and enjoy

If you haven't run across Thom Taylor's name and reputation in the past, here is a quick  bio after this link http://dev.motorburg.com/?page_id=128
Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and taught there later in life. He has designed at least 4 of the America's Most Beautiful Roadster winners, and at least one Ridler award winner

If you are new to looking at my site, I hope you enjoy browsing, and if there is something particular you are looking for, then go through the 1000 to 1100 tags running alphabetically down the right hand side of this site to the word for what you are interested in, click on it, and hang on for the ride.

I recommend that if you just have a couple minutes, you've come to the right place. Look at http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/03/best-of-archives.html
and http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2012/01/best-posts-my-favorite-stories-from.html for the posts that I think are the most interesting of all the 10300 I've made.

Or for a lot of humor, about 809 posts of funny stuff  http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/humor

Signing off with, thank you Thom!

Nicest compliment of the week

This is my new favorite blog. I found it about a month ago and haven't been able to look away. My old fave was BangShift and anything I linked to off of the HAMB. Don't get me wrong, they are still great, but, I can't get over the broad specturm of automobile related activities you have covered.

Like I said, I've been voraciously reading your blog every day for about a month and have only made it back this far. Which can be partially attributed to all of the great links you send me off on! Please keep up the awesome work and I for one, do appreciate the amount of content you put up

nicest compliment of the week

Subject line: Amazing

 Hi Jesse,
Congratulations on an awesome site.
After I read the other guy's compliment this morning I felt ashamed for not passing this compliment earlier.

I have been a follower of yours for about two months now. When I was a young boy I could not get enough of foreign car magazines, I got addicted and hence I am now a fully committed and and incurable "Autphobian" and proud of it.

In the morning I cannot wait to see what new and interesting stuff you placed. I admire and respesct you for your taste and maturity of pictures and articles.

Cars promote themselves not half-naked women, I can show people what I am looking at without being ashamed. Well done.

Since reading and looking at everything you cover, it sparked the inner-child with creativity. Am I the only guy that builds cars and rods and put plans together when others are sleeping? Nope, it is not sleeplessness; I call it "The Creative Mode".

I live in South Africa, Gauteng Province. I have been selling cars for the last 28-years and been a car guy for the last 57. When I see old cars rotting away it takes a chunk out of my heart.

The pictures you placed of the elephant flipping the car happened in November 2011 at the Pilansberg Game Reserve close to the famous Sun City Hotel and Casino. No one was injured, but what a story to tell the insurance...........on top of it all I think it was a rental.
Wishing you luck,
 Keep up the good work.
 Kind regards,

 Pieter Neveling

2nd nicest compliment of the week

Jesse,
I met you out at El Mirage a few weeks back. I was the guy sitting on the flatbed trailer under the awning. I just thought I'd tell you I love your site.

I'm hooked. I've been wasting much time while at work drooling over your photos. I've also gotten several other people interested and have started following it as well. Just wanted to tell you thanks for all the work I know you've put into this.

Much appreciated! Mike

Nice compliment of the day!

You've posted some fantastic pictures recently, the Rat Rods and all the mopar stuff particularly, but todays Bob Baker customer appreciation day was great!
I think I definitely have a VW shaped hole in my life.
Cheers,
Iain

best compliments of the week

Saw a hood ornament today on an old truck at McDonald in Harrisonburg, VA. I thought it was from a Hudson but it turned out to be from an 1948 Oldsmobile. Thanks to my wife for bringing the camera along, I was able to ID it accurately with the help of your awesome Blog! Thanks! Pete

 and

Man, I always love coming to your site. You consistently have the best photos on the blogosphere. I find myself getting lost in the images all the time. Thanks again 5 point detail
